About Humanist Association of Greater Philadelphia

The Humanist Association of Greater Philadelphia or HAGP was originally formed on October 13, 1960 as a provisional charter to the American Humanist Association or AHA. It has the proud distinction of being one of AHA's oldest Chapter groups.

HAGP's goal is to promote Humanism and foster the building of a Humanist community. Humanism is a democratic and ethical life stance that affirms that human beings have the right and responsibility to give meaning and shape to their own lives. It stands for the building of a more humane society through an ethic based on human and other natural values in the spirit of reason and free inquiry through human capabilities. It is not theistic, and it does not accept supernatural views of reality. Wikipedia has an excellent entry on Humanism which more broadly explains the history and lifestance: http://en.wikipedia.o...

HAGP organizes six events each month that you can learn about on our regularly updated website: www.hagp.org

If Humanism interests you and you live in the greater Philadelphia area, please join our Meetup group FREE of charge.
