Dr. Darrel Ray, author of The God Virus: How Religion Infects and founder of Recovering from Religion, asked me to pass the following information along to our group. I will also add a link to their site on our links page:
====================================== I am Darrel Ray, author of The God Virus: How Religion Infects Our Lives and Culture and founder of Recovering from ReligionT or RRT. I am not sure we have met but I spoke in March to the Boulder Atheists about my book and have been on Rich Orman's Dogma Free America. I am writing to ask for your assistance in getting the word out about RR. Our purpose is simple, we want to support people as they make the big decision to leave religion. Leaving religion is full of social, emotional and psychological complications. Support from others who are going through the same thing can not only help them get out but help them stay out. You can view our website at www. recoveringreligionists.com. Take a look at the purpose and guidelines. You can see our recent press release at: http://www.sanepr.com... RR does not compete with your current group, and may attract new members for you once they have taken the step to leave religion altogether. Take a look at my youtube video announcing RR and some of my other videos discussing the psychology of religious services, hypnotism, sex and guilt, etc. www.youtube.com/damon132. My purpose in writing is to ask one or more people in your organization to start an RR group in your area. We now have groups in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Kansas City, New York City, Durham, North Carolina, Conroe, Texas, and several other places. We think that RR should have a meeting in every major city in North America. Please pass this along to your members and ask anyone who is interested to contact me directly at darrelray@thegodvirus. net. We can help them get started and provide tips and guidelines for starting a meeting, how to get media attention, and how to find people who would benefit from RR. These are not necessarily people who think of themselves as atheists or humanists, but they may well become atheists or humanists if we support them in getting out of religion. If you have questions, feel free to contact me. Thanks for your help, Dr. Darrel W. Ray |
