Christmas is not the only celebration going on at the end of December!
There are three international event two days prior!
On December 23rd the Sydney Humanists plan to celebrate:
+ FESTIVUS
Festivus was invented in 1966 by Reader's Digest writer and editor Dan O'Keefe, but popularised by the TV show Seinfeld.
The Sydney humanist end of year celebration will somewhat follow the traditions of Festivus, we will have all the trappings like the "aluminium festivus pole", the "Airing of Grievances" and of course "Festivus Miracles".
+ HUMANLIGHT
HumanLight is the celebration of a Humanist's vision of a good future. They celebrate a positive approach to the coming New Year.
+ SUMMER SOLSTICE
Summer Solstice is the longest day in summer (although winter solstice is more commonly celebrated in the northern hemisphere as a sign that it?s time to start thinking about sewing crops, as there are few farmers amongst us, summer solstice is just as good a reason for celebration).
We will be meeting in the botanical gardens near the duck pond at 1pm on Sunday December 23, bring a plate (and perhaps a blanket) and celebrate the end of 2007.

Let me know if you need directions.
Cheers
