Introduction
45 year old atheist from Seattle, now N Sydney. I have 2 different social groups that compete for my spare time, but none that I can be sure of that share my belief system. In my opinion, it's the only thing the church folk have that I don't.
What would you like to get out of the group? Philosophy? Growth? Friendship ? Chocolates ? Laughter ? Exchange of Ideas ?
I'd have to say growth would be a key reason I'd like to join. I know "what" I believe, and mostly know "why" as well, but might have some difficulty defending my beliefs against a staunch christian. I'd like to be better able to do just that if the situation required it.
What are some strengths or experiences you would like the group to facilitate or organise?
I hopefully won't be pressed into sharing right out of the gate, but just like the idea of being part of a group that think more like me than any other group I've been a part.
How did you come across Humanism and/or Humanitarianism in general? How did you come across this Meetup in particular?
