We will be hearing from a long-time professor of physiology and a new member of Humanists of Houston, Ed Barr. Dr. Barr will give a compressed view of the basics of neurophysiology but will then explain why he believes molecules can think, however it may be hundreds of years before we understand how it is done.
There will be an informal question and answer period, which means we may not get far! If the group wants more neuroscience then Dr. Barr is willing to continue in another session. Proposed topics would include ion channels, neurotransmission, some systems and a summary of an article on how we learn.
Child care IS available in the adjacent room so bring the kids! (please RSVP each time and mention you're bringing children so we know to inform our sitter).
*Please Remember Those In Need*
As an ongoing program, we ask that you buy just one extra canned good when you do your grocery shopping, and remember to bring them to the Gathering, where we will collect and donate them to the End Hunger Network.
