Our monthly gathering is the cornerstone of all HOH activities. We generally start with a reception and follow with a presentation and then questions and/or discussion. This month, the topic of the presentaion will be Active Non-violence as Conflict Resolution. As with all of our meetings and events, the HOH Monthly Meeting is open to anyone to attend! To keep up on the planned topics, see www.HumanistsOfHoust on.org/gathering.htm Note to all: Please be aware of our ongoing Canned Goods Program! We are asking folks to get into the habit of picking up just ONE extra can when grocery shopping, then bring them to the monthly city-wide Gathering. They will be donated to the End Hunger Network. Note to parents: Child care IS available at the Monthly Gatherings! Please RSVP each time and mention you are bringing children, so we know to alert our child care volunteer. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU SATURDAY! :)

Here we gather to discuss the ideas in a different book each month. Unlike a typical book club, the presenter for that month will give an overview of the book and its ideas before discussion. So, while reading the book is helpful, it is not required to participate in a discussion of the ideas in the book. In addition, ideas might sometimes come from several tangent books or from other sources. The topics vary widely and are always engaging. To see a schedule of topics, please see: www.humanistsofhoust on.org/ideasclub.htm

This club looks at issues relating to religion. This includes discussion about problems with religion and its institutions and leaders. It also includes discussion of what elements of religion may be important to human culture. The question, "what is religion?" is explored, as well the history and future of religion. Relevant subject matter might also include critiques on faith-based thinking, superstition, religious violence, and dogma. To see the schedule of topics, please see: www.humanistsofhoust on.org/religionclub. htm This month's topic: Update on Soros

This meetup is geared toward children 3 - 14 so bring your kids. There will be activities to celebrate Charles Darwin's scientific legacy. We'll meet anthropologists and learn about the evolution of the human body, see insect adaptations, and meet some animals whose biology hasn?t changed in hundreds of years! The activities will be in the main foyer so this will take place even if the weather does not cooperate! Admission to the childrens' activity is FREE. There is a McDonalds at the museum and a Café Express at the MFAH if you would like to go to lunch. I'm open to suggestions for other places as well, or we could skip lunch all together!
