Halloween party at Casa Johnson - costumes optional but encouraged. The party will start around 6pm for folks who want to bring their kids and trick-or-treat in my neighborhood and any time after that for folks who take their kids trick-or-treating in their own neighborhood. Anyone without kids can come over any time after 6pm. There will be alcohol served (open bar), making it an adult party, but the kids will have their own party room where they can watch kids movies play games. The attendees will be a mix of bikers, atheists, atheist bikers (really), and some of the more interesting characters from where I work. Directions for those folks who haven't been to my house: Go through Copperas Cove on Hwy 190, in the direction of Lampassas. Go past the Dairy Queen and the skating rink and take the next left into the Walker Place subdivision. Turn left onto Indian Camp Trail and my house will be a ways down on the left. Happy Halloween!! I will be at the Starbuck's at the corner of Trimmier and Hwy 190 in Killeen at 0900, 20 Sep 09 and will leave there for Austin at 0930. If any of you would like to carpool or caravan to Austin, feel free to meet me there. The brunch is at 1130 at Romeo's, 1500 Barton Springs Road, Austin, TX 78704. If any of you are new and haven't met me before, I will be wearing my brown hair in a ponytail and will prop my sunglasses on my head. I hope to see you all on Sunday! Kathleen

On Aug 2, 2009, we're going to have our first movie night followed by a discussion of the movie or any other topic we choose. This meeting's movie is going to be Religulous featuring Bill Maher. I know many of you have seen this already but not with the group, and the follow-up discussion might be highly entertaining. Also, we may be joined by a reporter from the Killeen Herald who is interesting in profiling the group or individual members of the group. She has stated that she will respect the privacy of anyone who is uncomfortable with the feature and it will be entirely up to you whether to talk with her or not. I will provide snacks and beverages but if there is something specific you'd like to eat or drink, feel free to bring it.

This meeting is a go as scheduled. The 7pm show is called "Sea Monsters" and the 8pm show is called "Solar Max". Both look really great but we'll plan on doing the 7m show for sure and decide on the 8pm show when we meet. We also have the option of going out and grabbing dinner after the 7pm show if we want. I have changed the meet time to 6:30 pm in order to give us time to meet and get our tickets. I thought we'd try a different meeting spot this time. Casa Ole is a mexican place located in Copperas Cove near the Walmart. Cove is a little further for some of you to come but a little shorter distance for others compared to our usual Killeen meet spot so it all balances out. If you are coming from Fort Hood, Casa Ole is one of the first businesses on the left, just past the Arby's. Thursday night is also two-for-one margarita night :-) I will try to get there a little early and secure a table within sight of the front door if possible but if not, I will let the host know that we're a group so that they will know to direct members to our table.
