We are a secular group for those who seek improvement in this life by:
* applying reason, science, and free inquiry to solving human problems;
* advocating freedom, happiness, and progress for all humanity;
* using the democratic process to seek justice and fairness in all societies;
* supporting moral principles that have been validated by consequences;
* accepting kinship with the natural world;
* holding humans responsible for human destiny;
* seeking natural rather than supernatural explanations.

Discover the Children's Program at the Humanists of Greater Portland! All children are welcome to attend; babies may attend if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Instead of attending the main program or the scheduled discussion group (usually on a given topic), parents may take this opportunity to chat with other parents, in a separate room, on a topic of their choosing. Read more
